Phnom Kulen Tour

9:30 am – 5:30 pm
US$135 pp
minimum 2 persons

Pick up and drop off at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Phnom Kulen is the most holy place in all of Cambodia. It is their source of the freshest water and represents Mount Maru in India/Nepal, the start of the Ganges River.

We will pick you up at your hotel in Siem Reap, depending on time we will start the day visiting a local market and taking in the images of what the locals see in the market in the early morning hours of the day. From there we will continue about 55km (1.5hours) to Phnom Kulen. Driving through the countryside if we see something that looks interesting to photograph, we can easily pullover and capture the moment.

The steep winding road going up will give us a few glimpse of the diverse countryside from Siem Reap. Upon arriving at the top we will park the car and have a holy walk up to the Reclining Buddha carved into the mountain. We will have many opportunities for portraits of the locals participating in traditional prayers and offerings.

Next we will continue down to see the River of 1,000 Lingas. Depending on light and water levels we can practice long exposure photography. We will then visit the Upper Waterfall for a few images there and carry on down to the Lower Waterfall. It will be critical to use a sturdy tripod and either a polarized or ND filter.

If you are new to long exposure photography, you will be blown away with how easy brilliant results are to achieve with a little bit of instruction.

After we will return to your hotel in Siem Reap.
